David M. Hamby

General Manager

Professor Emeritus in the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering at Oregon State University. Dr. Hamby has educated hundreds of future Health Physicists over the past 30 years, awarding 45 master's degrees and a dozen doctorates, with more than 180 publications. He has been the NRC's Principal Investigator for the VARSKIN project for the past two decades.

Roland R. Benke

Director – Technologies division

Dr. Benke has more than 25 years of experience in radiation health physics, regulatory guidance development, consequence and risk analyses for nuclear facility safety assessments, and innovative radiation detection technologies for nuclear security and environmental monitoring. He is a member of federal and state advisory boards, an associate editor of the Health Physics journal, and federally trained as a radiological emergency responder.

Jeff M. Luitjens

Director – Software division

Dr. Luitjens is an expert in nuclear power technologies, bringing over a decade of experience in experimentation, modeling, simulation, and analysis. His career is marked by a commitment to developing innovative yet practical solutions to complex engineering challenges. Dr. Luitjens has an intimate understanding of the regulatory process and approval mechanisms, offering him a comprehensive perspective on the field. His expertise extends to establishing and implementing quality assurance programs for both testing and software development. Passionate about shaping the future of engineering, Dr. Luitjens is dedicated to mentoring emerging engineers and advancing novel engineering solutions.
