Projects
-
RCD performed assessments providing regulatory insight into unique problems associated with radioactive contamination. It recommended updates to guidelines including dose thresholds for harmful ionizing radiation. Dosimetric details were provided, allowing analysts to quickly identify situations that may exceed dose limits.
-
RCD has performed focused research in response to increased usage of radioactive material in medical facilities and veterinary clinics. It performed an initial assessment of potential doses to humans from various procedures, developing customized analytical approaches to increase realism in future assessments.
-
Using state-of-the-art Monte Carlo simulations, RCD is conducting high-fidelity radiation transport and shielding analyses. Addressing exposure to humans and electronics, insights will support development of new calculational conventions for assessing advanced shielding materials and designs.
-
RCD has developed robust mathematical techniques to characterize numerical data sets. These general mathematical formulations have benefits extending to many fields. For example, this work can support developments in machine learning by providing rapid convergence towards optimal solutions, mitigating missing, poor, and outlier data.
